Week 5 Results.......December 10, 2010

Experts say that those that maintain their weight during the holidays, is comparable to loosing 7 pounds.  Most people put on 7 pounds over the holidays.  So look at all your hard work.  You're above the stat's for the holidays.  Keep going!  You guys are awesome! Good Job!  This next week is going to be a little more challenging because of ThanksGiving!  If I may, I would suggest you eat perfect everyday this week and let ThanksGiving be a free day, but have a goal set for your eating.  For example: just have one piece of pie and eat in appropriate proportions.

9 Contestants So Far!

 I have had nine people email me their weights so far.  I am very excited for you all!  You will do great!

I was laying in bed tonight, thinking about this contest.  If any of you would like me to configure how many calories you should be ruffly eating in a day, please email me FRIDAY with your next weigh in.  (I am on vacation and can't get to it till next Sunday or Monday.)

I can estimate your daily caloric consumption you should be eating ruffly everyday to loose weight.  I like to base it off of your goal weight.  Now, this won't be exact because we will not be able to calculate your BMI or BMR.  But we can figure a rough number.  You will probably see that you will drop fast but the closer you get to your goal weight, it will become slightly harder to loose the weight as fast.  However, it will come off.  Then, it will be a great maintenance caloric intake for you to try and live by for the rest of your lives.

If you would like some base, rough numbers please email me with your FRIDAY'S weigh in.  What I will need is: your GOAL weight, your height, and how many calories you think you are expending daily in exercise.  [You can estimate around 100 calories per mile you walk, jog, or run.  Again, that's not taking into account your BMI or BMR.  It's just a rough number for the average person.  For example: say you are walking 2 miles a day then you would email me a figure of 200 calories expended in exercise.(2miles x 100 calories =200)]

Also, if there are others who want to sign up, please have them email me.  I am really excited for you all.  I know it feels like a big undertaking but you all can do it!  Take your before and after pictures so you can see your accomplishments.  It won't seem like a big deal until you see those last final pictures.  You will be amazed, if you loose the weight!

WELCOME & GOOD LUCK !

Hello everyone!  Welcome! I am excited to help keep your results over the next few months.  I am sure Ellen told you all that we did this competition with a group of friends in our neighborhood and it went really well. My husband actually won!  He lost 39 pounds within a three month period. As a group, we lost a total of 168 pounds.

I was the official track keeper for our friends and I am very excited to do it again for all of you! I actually have a passion for health promotion and I am going back to school to finish my degree at Weber State. I love this stuff and I love to watch people succeed!

The game plan is as follows: every FRIDAY you will need to email me your weight. It is best to weigh in first thing in the morning (without clothes). Once I have received everyone's weight, I will then post it on this blog site. I will have it posted by the following Saturday morning. The only thing I will show is your name, the number of pounds you lost, and your percentage of weight loss.

Most likely, there will be a different winner every week. Once a month, the last Saturday of the month, I will post the overall scores and who is taking the lead of the Holt Elementary Biggest Loser Competition!

Your first weigh in starts this Friday, November 5, 2010 and you will end Friday, December 31, 2010. The winner will be announced January 1, 2011. Please make sure you get your $25.00 into the secretary or Ellen.

One thing our group wished we would have done is take a before and an after picture.  Those of you who would like to take the pictures, please email them to me with your LAST weigh in and I will post them with the FINAL results. (I think it's a great way to see your accomplishment.)
